The School, Today: Interview by Andrea Modesto
Andrea Modesto, my good friend and colleague in philosophical practice as well as a philosophy teacher in Italy, interviewed me for his series about teaching in the current world. The School, Today takes a look at perspectives of teachers from various countries and experiences, addressing the beauty, struggles, and strategies of teaching grade school and university students. We discuss presenting philosophy to students who are required to take a course on the subject, developing methods of active learning and the role of dialogue and debate in the classroom, creating strategies to address learned ignorance and limited attention spans, and playing with ideas.
